The Reluctant Puddle Duck

Lovin' the Summer.... the heat? not so much. the water? YES! Loving opportunities like this!

It's Summer in Texas and the temps are averaging 100. Mia and I were about town the other day...in and out of stores..in and out of a HOT car. As we got close to home, I noticed some water on the road. A LOT of water. In our cul-de-sac! With Mia in one hand and my P&S in the other, we went to investigate. The water guy said that he was checking chlorine levels (they passed) through the and was now flushing the system through the fire hydrant. Hmmmm. He looked at Mia, smiled, said it was totally safe, gave us the go ahead and actually took a shot of us :) For some reason I thought she'd take to it like all those NYC kids do in those Summer movies. Nope. She was cautious. Until she found a puddle more her size, and just loved it :)

I know I'm reaching...but little ways below her right foot there are two clusters of bubbles...the one on the right is a heart :)

Happy Love Thursday. Shutter Sisters is full of LOVE today.

This weeks' Theme Thursday over at The Land of K.A. is Summer Fun.

Now, I don't know many mamas who would stop the car to play with water in the street. Way to go. My kiddos would have dove in.

Yeah for puddles and summer fun! Anything involving water and kids and hot weather is a sure winner. That was super nice he took a picture of you both. Great fun!

In my mind, the water is rushing forth with such speed it's creating the gusty conditions that have left her so windswept in the fourth image. Even if it was simply a serendipitous breeze it's perfect!

What a fun selection of photos. At first I thought she was standing at the beach; fun to pan out and see that it was a street. She will remember it as being as large as a beach though.

Good thing she found a puddle her size! you captured the moment so beautifully. My son would have plunged himself beneath the fullest stream of the hydrant. . .

That is AWESOME to get to play in a fire hydrant! I bet Nadia would be skittish of it at first, too, as much as I like to imagine her running through it with reckless abandon. So great you got a picture with YOU, too. What a cool opportunity.

How fun! I've seen our hydrants get flushed before but it's usually on a street that we can't go on - too busy. she is adorable.

How fun! And what a great thing to come across in the middle of such a hot day.

OMG look at all the water! I love these shots. You are a cool momma for stopping and letting her play and get all wet. Ella would be cautious too, but these are the moments to cherish. Totally spontanious.

Looks like she is having a good time! What a great opportunity...you have to take them when you can get them!

How fun is that?!

It's 100 degrees, and you're wearing jeans? You had to be dying.

Looks very refreshing! I can see why she'd be a little timid at first, though. That's a lot of rushing water! Anyhow, what a great photo op. I love the third photo in your series; the look on her face is too cute.

You're not pushing, that's definitely a bubble heart. Well spotted!
