Zero Tolerance!

Mia's been having some nightmares lately about dragonflies, mostly. I have NO idea why dragonflies, maybe she thinks they're related to dragons. We have a Miss Spider book full of sweet dragonflies that we've been reading since her nightmares started up...not much help.

It's harder for her to fall asleep, and sometimes she wakes up crying in the middle of the night. I go in to rock her...soothe her...and help her work through it if she wants to talk about it.

I came up with the sign idea that we taped to her door letting those creatures that we mean business! Since then, she's been nightmare free! She told me everything she's afraid of including the space worms? Hmmm never heard of space worms, but they're on the list!

This morning, she wanted to add another sign to the door. Saying what? 'no mamas'. No MAMAS!?!?! Who would tuck her in at night? oh, no. After a little though, she opted not to make a 'no mama' sign.

Thats a very good idea. I havent thought to do that yet. We do a "bug check" for Ella every night before bed....but since it is winter, we told her there are no bugs in the winter time and she has thankfully dropped it!

I have also heard the water bottle with a Dragonfly (Insert Scary Thang) Away label works wonders!

The sign is a great idea!

You can also cut out pics of the stuff she's scared of and draw a big-red-circle-with-the-line through-it-sign, so it's symbolic too. =)
