Best Shot Monday ~ Fountain Fun

If you were looking for us on Saturday morning, you would have found us at the Farmer's Market. Mia and I hooked up with Bonnie, Josh, Ben & Sam. We ended up at our usual spot, the fountain. Ben and Mia played around the fountain, but not in it. When I took a spin with Mia around the fountain, I figured out why...it was freakin' cold! Water sprays + shade + a slight breeze does indeed = chilliness. The kids played, Bonnie and I chatted, Josh so very kindly fetched us all Jim Jim's. Good Times. I guess Mia needed a rest, so she climbed into the BOTTOM of her stroller. There were a few other cute moments that I caught with my good ol' P&S:

But my Best Shot Monday has to be this one of Mia. There's just something about it that I love.

4th, Family & Fireworks

The 4th was fun cuz we spent it with family. Joe, Melissa and Gwen had us over along with Nana and Pawpaw.... Melissa's brother, Andy, was there with his wife Kate. I so love them, and it had just been too long. I had such a nice time chatting with Melissa and Kate...nice girl time. Auntie M had a gift for her Mia...her very own djembe!!!! Now when I practice, Mia sits across from me and plays HER djembe. The clean hands rule is still in place, though.

I had my own little gift for my darling neice...Gwen got her own set of play silks. I dyed them last week at a playdate. From the looks of it Gwen was into them.

Melissa and I were able to sit back and relax for a long while thanks to Nana and Pawpaw. They had those girls entertained. Pawpaw gave them a turn around the yard...the whole time he had an Elmo sticker on his knee :)

Once again, Mia was the target of a stuffed animal attack. This time she was assaulted by her Auntie M. Mia was in heaven!

Now, that night, the Wells Branch Mud had their own fireworks display. They were close to our house, but not close enough. You can see they were behind a tree. My camera settings were off, but I had a great time taking some fun looking shots :)

we're not preventing

the word 'trying' feels weird to me. so, Daryl and I have decided to stop trying to prevent a pregnancy in hopes of scoring another kid :)

with our miscarriage in the spring, i've been asked if we'd go 'public' with our plans or keep thangs to ourselves 'just in case'. well, we obviously want to share this experience with our loved ones, and i don't believe in jinxing the pregnancy. plus, if anything does go wrong, we'll need the support of family and friends.

we visited with Kiwe and Tom yesterday. they have a 6 1/2 month old Baby Mia, and our Mia was so freakin cool with her. it made me smile....and then when she asks for a baby brudder...my heart melts.

It's been about 2 1/2 months since we visited our pals Kiwe & Tom and their Baby Mia...a LOT has happened since then...they moved into their gorgeous new house. There are SO many wonderful things about their home, but my fav has to be the light switches are dimly lit :) I didn't have to search. Perfect. We were invited for a visit today, but I was shocked to see that it was almost 8pm when Mia and I got into our car to leave. Hello! 4 1/2 hours of nonstop fun, chat, and play.

Last time the girls pretty much ignored each other...this time, they totally interacted. Baby Mia handed Mia her cat, Mia bonked Baby Mia on the head with a ball (it was soft, and this also happened right after Tom and Mia rough housed with pillows)...Baby Mia was not fazed at all, Mia offered Baby Mia a frog, and Baby Mia took it. It was so sweet to see.



Baby Mia is amazingly mobile...not the regular crawling for this 6 1/2 month old...she's cruising the furniture like a pro. She even tried to pull up and cruise on Mia, but she was NOT having it. I made a game of it saying that Baby Mia was going to 'get her'. Mia would run away shrieking....so very much afraid of the two-toothed baby. Baby Mia wasn't too sure about what was going on, but she was totally in LOVE with Mia. Mia would take periodic breaks and climb into Baby Mia's bouncy chair...to freakin cute!

Tom. Let's talk about him. Now, I'd briefly met him before, but never really hung out with him. He was totally cool with watching a baby and a toddler while Kiwe gave me the grand tour...he even took Mia outside to look for crystals! By himself!

Then he pummeled Mia with pillows, to her delight. They'd seen the video of Daryl and I hurling a hug stuffed hippo at our Mia when she was about a year old. I LOVED how comfy he was with her.

Kiwe and I got a wonderful chat in and have made plans for us all to get together for dinner. Daryl was at pool tonight, so he missed out on all the fun.

Hairspray & Fairy Dust

Yesterday, I looked at Mia and I couldn't see her, because her bangs were down past her eyes. Time for a visit to Snip-its! This trip would be the third one. The first two I avoided the blond stylist. She just had a way about her that really turned me off, and I wanted these bang cuts to be good experiences for Mia...lollipops or not. Well, yesterday, I thought....hmmmm Mia's been really mellow lately. Maybe she can handle the blond...I mean last time when Mia's name was called out by the blond..she said 'Max'...I politely said we'd be waiting for the next stylist.


Yesterday, while waiting for Mia's turn, I watched the two stylists that were there....the blond (ummm, NOPE!) and the one that cut Mia's hair last time. I forgot her name, so let's call her Mary. The kid in the blonde's chair was as calm as a cucumber. The one in Mary's chair was crying bloody murder. Then it all came back to me...Mia was done, but Mary kept tweaking her hair and fluttering around her..it really bugged Mia to where she was on the verge. Yesterday, Mary was doing the same thing to the crying kid. All that kid wanted was to be done...and he was done about 5 min before, but Mary keep tweaking. Poor kid.


When it was Mia's turn, we bit the bullet and went with the blond, and she was FABULOUS!!! SUPER FABULOUS!!!! She was calm and cool. She talked 'with' Mia...not 'at' her. She just combed her hair, was chatting away with Mia, while we discussed what to do with Mia's bangs. Apparently, Mia's hair needs a little bit of training....but then Britnny (the blond now has a name) said not to worry about it...when Mia's hair grows longer, it'll get some weight to it....

She dry cut her bangs. I LOVED that. Oh, when we came in, Mia's hair was in a messed up post nap chongo (ponytail). So, when taken down, she had a full poof of hair on the top of her head. Brittny clipped the 'growing out bangs' out of her eyes, and with the added poof and curl out of the rest of her hair...I saw a twinkle in Britnny's eyes. She asked Mia 'hey, you want some fairy dust in your hair'...Mia, not too sure what a fairy was much less fairy dust...but had her eye on that lollipop and didn't want to rock the boat, said 'sure'. With that, Brittny, grabbed the hairspray, fluffed up some hair, brushed some curls where they flipped out a bit more...lightly sprayed...then sprinkled fine pink glitter in her hair! How COOL was that?!?! I wanted fairy dust!

Mia came out looking like a chick from Hairspray. Bouffant 'do and all. Add that too her fluffy skirt.... I'm kicking myself for not having my camera at the place, but did get some at home where she shouldn't stop twirling with her lollipop while chatting about fairy dust. I heart Brittny! I was WRONG, so very WRONG about her....I LOVE it when I'm wrong :)

Unplug Your Kids ~ Garden

While the kids over at Unplug Your Kids worked on a super cute miniature fairy garden for this weeks' Unplugged Project - Garden, Mia and I doctored a plant.

My MIL gave me a Christmas cactus she started from a clipping from a plant that came from a clipping of a plant that Clem once took care of before he passed away. This plant has some history behind it. Yesterday, while pulling up the kitchen blinds, a limb from the plant fell off. Ah Ha! Garden project for Unplug Your Kids!!!!!

Mia and I took the limb, found a pot and dish (that didn't match, but it soooo doesn't matter) in the laundry room, and some potting soil in the garage. I showed Mia how to scoop the soil with her hand (always use your hands) and dump it into the pot...when the pot was full, we tucked the limb the soil. Dee, my MIL, said that these guys can root anywhere...here's trying.

Then we found Mia's watering can that was behind the ferns, and showed her how a little potted plant needs to be watered a whole lot more gently than the grass or stuff in the flower beds. She had fun, and was very gentle.



I sure do hope this little guy roots and grows up...this will be a gift to Mia from her Great grandpa, Clem.

This Week in Playdates

It's Wednesday and we've already hit Three!!!! It helps us so much when we can get out and hang with our friends. It really gets my mind off things and reminds me to focus on all the good stuff in our lives.

First off was the Español para Niños - Musical Playdate Hosted by Ashley and Andrea T. This was Ashley's very first playdate to host and it was a huge success! All the kids played instruments and had a great time. I enjoyed hanging out with my O'Mama friends, too.

Then on Tuesday we hit Anja and Anika's house for a Color Your World playdate. They hosted with Gabriel, who ...oh my was the silk dying queen! We went through the process of dying white silks in kool-aid and vinegar. It was super fun, and the silks came out beyond gorgeous!!!!

This morning, Mia and I hopped over to Wendy & Zephyrs pad to co-host a Shrinky Dink playdate! Mia and I had make some SD a couple of weeks ago, and while reading this blog, Wendy was inspired to host a SD playdate! Yay! Wendy! Ohh it was so much fun, and the O'Mamas really got into it! I may be hosting a SD MNI some time :)
